This past weekend was the Minnesota State Tournament, held in White Bear Lake, MN. We had a solid crew with only a few of our regulars missing and one player from out of state who was able to join us. After getting steamrolled in Sealed Deck on Friday night, I managed to come back with a vengeance on Saturday morning and go 4-0 (+14 LS differential) in Type 1 2-player, winning the event, and to do so I used a new version of the "Honeypot" deck popular in the early stages of the 2023-2024 season. Unfortunately, the deck never really got much time in the limelight of the main tournament season because people found answers to it and built their decks accordingly. Then once Israel's Inheritance hit the scene and Joshua was taking out support cards left and right, Honeypot decks stood very little chance. Now that Joshua and Matthew have both taken a little bit of a step back for Daniel to enter the scene and Bound to the Law has been officially released, "Honeypot" (or perhaps "Honeybound") may have the potential to make a resurgence. In this video, I'll go over the "new" version of the deck and do some commentary on my Round 2 game against Maxwell from the livestream.
