Believe it or not, there was a time in Redemption history when Assyrians was a meta defense... At least in Type 2 anyway, but they had some moments in Type 1. It has been thought that Rotation solidified their demise until a few more tools are printed, but is it possible that the tools they had were just waiting there for the opportune moment? Maybe, though a couple cards they got recently, namely Abomination of Desolation and Tribute to Assyria, seemed to have sealed their standing as, at the very least, a viable defense. Between the strong negates, the Dominant restriction of Nineveh, and the play-first potential from Foreign Horses and Tribute to Assyria, it seems that Assyrians are actually situated fairly well in the current meta if you can fit all the pieces in your deck, and that's just what I attempted to do in building this 57-card deck to play against Tim "BaboonyTim" Estes for Round 4 of Lackey Grand Prix #26.
